A new STANDUP WORLD SERIES event will be held in BILBAO (BIZKAIA / BASQUE COUNTRY / SPAIN) on june 21-22-23…
Co-organized by BWATERS the energetic local SUP Club of Bilbao and DIABOLO FUN this event will offer an unbelievable and unique race on the river “La Ria de Bilbao” right in the middle of the heart of Bilbao, the capital of Bizkaia.

With US$ 20.000 prize money BILBAO WORLD SUP CHALLENGE is a new STANDUP WORLD SERIES PRIME EVENT confirmed on the 2013 International calendar. Scheduled after “OLERON ISLAND” event BILBAO WORLD SUP CHALLENGE will attract the top riders of the world.

Open to the “PRO” riders this event will be as well a very friendly gathering for those who just like to cruise and to discover the beauty of Bilbao. Therefore the event is open to “Amateurs” (OPEN DIVISION). With a long distance race of 15 km for “PRO DIVISION” and a 8.5 km for “OPEN DIVISION” the river will be crowed of paddlers coming from all around the world. The Long Distance race is scheduled on Saturday at 4.00 pm.

A Sprint Race will be held on Sunday afternoon at “Arenal”, inside the “old” Bilbao, where the “BILBAO WORLD SUP CHALLENGE Village” will be set up. With a very intense course between emblematic bridges of the city it is highly likely that competitors will be supported by thousands of spectators massed along the river. Emotional moments guaranteed!

Many activities, local games and clinics will be proposed as well to the public on Saturday and Sunday to bring to this 1st BILBAO WORLD SUP CHALLENGE the standing of the great local events.

04.30 pm Announcement of results.

06.00 pm - Departure for 'recognition' of the Long Distance race (15 km) : 'BILBOATS' (trip by boat along the river...).

07.00 pm - PRO DIVISION COMPETITORS Briefing – Long Distance Race (15 km).

08.00 pm -Official Opening Ceremony.
