Stand up world series

Le Stand Up World Series (SUWS) est le circuit mondial de référence reconnu par l’International Surfing Association (ISA), elle-même reconnue par le Comité International Olympique (CIO) pour le Stand Up Paddle.

Chaque évènement du Stand Up World Series est composé d’une course longue distance et d’une Beach Race (course de sprint généralement disputée dans un format par élimination).

Le résultat global combiné de chaque épreuve attribue des points de qualification qui permet d’établir le classement général du SUWS. Suivant les compétitions, les points sont attribués par rapport au niveau sportif, le prize-money varie de 5.000 $ à 20.000 $.

* Brazil Pro Grand Slam, Sao Paolo: 11th – 12th April
* Location tba early January 2014: Date window: May / June
* Fehmarn World Cup, Germany: 7th – 9th August
* Kanagawa Pro, Japan: 4th – 6th September
* Huntington Beach Pro Grand Slam: 2nd – 4th October
* World Series Finals at Turtle Bay: 16th – 18th October

The Stand Up World Series provides a professional competitive platform for the world's best Stand Up Paddle Racers to determine the legitimate Men's, Women's and U16 World Champions as a result of a WQS Series that spans the globe, and will culminate in the World Championship Finals at Turtle Bay on the North Shore of Oahu in October.

Each Stand Up World Series event will consist of 2 racing formats:
*Long Distance: Anywhere from 7 - 20 miles, and either downwind coast run or course race, subject to location and local conditions
*Sprint Course: Heat elimination format sprint course featuring 10 - 12 minute sprints customized to suit the surrounding environment

The overall result from long distance and sprint races combined will provide the qualification points and Final result from each event. Long distance and sprint races will be weighted equally.


Events are classified according to their prize purse, with the following event classifications:
Prime: US$20k or more
5 Star: US$15k or more
4 Star: US$10k or more
3 Star: US$5k or more
